The Baltimore Perfusion Conference – 2011 will be held on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9, 2011 starting with a Welcome Reception and presentations on Friday evening, October 7 at the InterContinental Harbor Court at the Inner Harbor, 550 Light Street, Baltimore, MD. The Casino Night social event being held on Saturday evening, October 8, will benefit the University of Maryland Hospital for Children’s Cardiac Surgery Department. Those who attended the Casino Night at BPC-09 had a GREAT time – so don’t miss out.
All BPC activities will take place on the second floor of the hotel. Friday night presentations and “Casino Night” will be held in Hampton’s Ballroom. Saturday and Sunday Presentations will be held in the Whitehall Ballroom with the Vendor Exhibit Area in the Pre-function Area.
Late fees are now in effect. Registration fee is $250 for MSPS Active Members, $275 for MSPS Sustaining Members and $300 for non-members. Student rate is $150 with proper ID. BPC 2011 has been awarded 17.4 CEUs for the Welcome Reception and Conference presentations. Continuing Education credits are not awarded at the student rate. Only Perfusionists practicing in Maryland are eligible for Active Member status (voting privileges). Anyone with an interest in Maryland’s society is eligible for Sustaining Member status (no voting privileges). Breakfast, lunch, and breaks are included in the registration fee. Cancellation Policy: Written requests received prior to Oct. 1, 11:59 pm will receive payment minus $10 processing fee. No refunds after Oct. 1.
Meeting attendees also receive free admission to Casino Night. Guest admission is $50. Casino Night will be held Saturday, October 8 from 18:30 – 22:30. Admission includes $50 worth of chips (no cash value). Prizes to be auctioned off at the end of the night include an iPad 2, a flat screen television, spa certificates and more!
Baltimore’s Inner Harbor has many activities for families and individuals alike. Attractions within walking distance include The National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center, harbor tours, restaurants, nightlife and more.

Casino night is 7:00 pm to 10:00pm - Appetizers will be served
- From 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm unlimited tax deductible buy-ins (cash preferred, ATM in lobby)
- Gaming will be from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- From 10:00 pm to 10:30 pm prizes will be auctioned off to the highest bidder (funny money only)
- Bar will be open 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Drink tickets will be sold by MSPS. $1.00/drink will go to the fundraiser. Prices: Soda/Water $5.00; Beer$7.00; Liquor $9.00; Wine $10.00

“Good Neighbor” Rules of Texas Hold’em
1. If everyone else folds, winner still shows his/her winning hand.
2. If player runs out of chips during a hand, side bets can proceed. If those not involved in the side bets do not win them, they go back to the player who placed them.
3. Only the best 5 cards are judged.
4. Suites are not counted.
5. If hands are equal, pot is split.
6. No blinds, just antes.
7. No buy ins during a hand.
8. No Wild Cards.
9. If a player’s card(s) is seen it is up to him/her to re-deal or play.
10. Antes will increase incrementally at the judgment of the Casino Night Director.
Hand Hierarchy
a. Royal Flush: This is the best possible hand in standard five-card Poker. Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10, all of the same suit.
b. Straight Flush: Any five-card sequence in the same suit (e.g.: 8, 9, 10, Jack and Queen of clubs; or 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of diamonds).
c. Four of a Kind: All four cards of the same value (e.g.: 8, 8, 8, 8; or Queen, Queen, Queen, Queen).
d. Full House: Three of a kind combined with a pair (e.g.: 10, 10, 10 with 6, 6; or King, King, King with 5, 5).
e. Flush: Any five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence (e.g.: 4, 5, 7, 10 and King of spades).
f. Straight: Five cards in sequence, but not in the same suit (e.g.: 7 of clubs, 8 of clubs, 9 of diamonds, 10 of spades and Jack of diamonds).
g. Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same value (e.g.: 3, 3, 3; or Jack, Jack, Jack).
h. Two Pair: Two separate pairs (e.g.: 2, 2, Queen, Queen).
i. Pair: Two cards of the same value (e.g.: 7, 7).
j. High Card: If a Poker hand contains none of the above combinations, it's valued by the highest card. |
